Introducing Autism Swim
At Rewired Therapy, we’re always looking for ways to make our services more inclusive and supportive for all NDIS participants. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that one of our physiotherapists is now certified in Autism Swim, a specialised program designed to help children and adults on the autism spectrum gain confidence and skills in the water.
What is Autism Swim?
Autism Swim is more than just swimming lessons. It’s a therapeutic approach that considers the unique needs, sensory sensitivities, and learning styles of individuals on the autism spectrum. Sessions are tailored to create a safe, structured, and fun environment, helping participants feel comfortable and empowered in the water.
Why Swimming?
Swimming (hydrotherapy) offers a range of benefits for people with autism, including:
Improved physical health: Building strength, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness.
Sensory regulation: Water can provide calming sensory input, helping participants feel more relaxed.
Confidence and independence: Learning to swim safely fosters self-esteem and life skills.
Our Approach at Rewired Therapy
With our new Autism Swim certification, our physiotherapist brings expertise in both therapy and swimming instruction. We focus on:
Tailoring lessons to individual needs and comfort levels
Incorporating sensory-friendly strategies
Providing consistent routines and clear communication
Supporting families and caregivers with guidance for safe practice outside of sessions
